Why have a web site?:

More and more people are looking for services and products on-line than ever before. Peoples' habits are changing. People move to a new area and very often rely solely on the Internet to learn about the new area, research and find out who to go to for what. Many people research and find their homes and jobs over the Internet. Most people are coming to expect that any professionally run business will have a web site. With a well-designed site your small business becomes a real player both on and off the net.

Add your Web Address to your stationary, business cards, other advertisements and you'll have visitors knowing exactly where to go for answers to their questions and where to send their friends to for great service.

The more people know about you and your company the greater the chances you have for attracting new customers. So, how do you get started?

Choosing between template and custom design

Building your site
Once you have chosen to go for a template site or custom design, these are the steps to getting the site ready to add content.

Template Sites
Design chosen.
Your Logo added and site loaded to a test area for your approval.#
Site created, all pages developed and your contact details embedded.
Now the site is ready for content as noted below.

Custom Design Sites
Design meeting with you and your team.
Logos and RGB colour specs sourced from branding agency or printers.
Design created and loaded to a test area for your approval. #
Changes made if needed and loaded to a test area for your final approval.
Site created, all pages developed and your contact details embedded.
Now the site is ready for content as noted below.

# The test area is a unique location where we load the web site with a simple password to access the site while under development.

Adding content to your pages
Now we have built the site we need to add content to the pages. This includes the text and images unique to your company. We will help you get this together. It is pretty simple.

We will also discuss search engines at this point and how to get the best results from search sites such as Google.

While you are compiling this information, we need to register your domain name and set up a hosting account.

Registering your domain name
Your domain name is your unique address on the Internet. Its the netfx of www.netfx.co.nz. To find a domain name, go to Domainz to search what is available. Try to find a domain name that is short and easy to remember. We recommend you register the domain name your self. Some companies will do this on your behalf yet they will retain the rights to the name. This ties you to their services and removes your control over your online identity.

Hosting Options
Hosting your site is simply putting the site on a web server designed to make your site available to the world 24/7. Sounds simple, however it is an exact science. We use the best in the country, Orcon Internet.

We develop the site so that you can make changes using a brilliant web site editing service available from Orcon Internet. Again, we recommend you establish an account with Orcon Internet your self. We can E-mail them with your requirements and contact details where one of their consultants will contact you to get the details to open your account. We then load the site to their servers and show you how to make changes to your web site.

We can load your site to other hosting companies servers. However they may not be able to offer a site editor, or we may need to make some tweaks to make it work. We can discuss these options as needed.

Some web design companies offer an all inclusive package, design, development, domain name and hosting. Be careful as in some occasions you are sharing a domain name and the web site is specific to their servers and can not be loaded to another provider, again this ties you to them and their products and removes options if you are not happy with their service.

Also, I have seen these types of companies go out of business and all of the sites hosted by them literally disappear. I have also converted a number of sites from dedicated hosting systems to be able to be hosted on mainstream service providers, four hours, per page, is the average time to do this, at $85.00 per hour it´s not a cheap exercise.

All done - now what?
Once we have added all of the content, you and your team have checked it you send a final sign off E-mail to us we load the site to your hosting account. Now the site can be seen from any where in the world

We then set a time to teach you how to edit the site and hand off all of the passwords and access details.

Misc. FAQ

How do I get to the top of search engine results?

Many companies offer search engine optimisation, just as we do. However, no company can stimulate search engines to show your site at the top of the list. Lets use Google as an example as they are the biggest and most influential, Google have made billions of dollars by producing the most relevant search results for their visitors. Do you think they are going allow some small outfit in "Nuu Zeeland" to endanger that much income?

What we do is ensure your result is "relevant" to the search terms your potential customers would use.

Who owns the web site?

You do. It is important that you retain the rights to every part of the process, the domain name, the hosting account and the web site.

What if I want to make changes in, say, a years time?

We can show you how to edit the site again or make the changes for you. Either option would be chargeable and a firm quote would be provided.

What is "scope creep"?

Where you have outlined what you want in your site and we have provided a quote. "Scope creep" is when you ask for changes to the specifications. We will accommodate some scope creep before a new quote would need to be prepared.

Can I have exclusivity on one of the template sites I like?

Yes. If the site has not been used before, it is yours for the same price as a custom site. If it has been used before, you can be the last to order that design for $699.00 plus GST.

Can I design it and you build it?

No problem. We can turn any design into a live site. Please be careful not to make it too complex as this will impact on download times.
